The transmission system of new energy vehicles (including pure electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, etc.) generally adopts single-gear transmission.
Single gear transmission is simple in structure, low cost and high efficiency.
Single-speed transmission consists of two gear transmission, where the second gear transmission integrated differential.
In recent years, the emergence of two-speed transmission, coaxial transmission, integrated electronic disconnect differential transmission, integrated dual-clutch differential transmission, motor controller transmission three-in-one assembly, integrated engine motor generator transmission and other new transmissions.
1. Two-speed transmission
GKN two-speed transmission with reduction ratios of 11.38 and 5.85 respectively.

The maximum torque and maximum speed of the motor can be reduced to make the motor smaller and lighter.
Moreover, the two-speed transmission can make the motor run more often at the best efficiency point and reduce fuel consumption.
2. coaxial transmission

3. Transmission with integrated electronic disconnecting differential

Used in the Volvo XC90T8 hybrid.
At high speeds, an electronic disconnect differential separates the motor from the wheels to improve system efficiency at high speeds and prevent motor overspeed.
The electronic disconnect differential controls the engagement or disengagement of the dog-tooth clutch and uses Hall sensors to non-contact measure the clutch position.
4. Transmission with integrated dual clutch differential
GKN transmission, integrated dual-clutch differential.
This differential is used in Range Rover Evoque and Ford Focus RS, and can also be used in pure electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles.
The dual clutch system replaces the conventional differential and allows precise torque adjustment at each wheel, enabling torque vectoring at the left and right wheels.
The system efficiency is improved when disconnected.
5. Transmission with two-speed coaxially integrated dual-clutch differential (called eTwinsterX by GKN).
Debuted at the 2017 International Motor Show in Frankfurt.
This transmission combines the features of the above-mentioned two-speed, coaxial, and dual-clutch differential transmissions.
6. Motor Controller Transmission 3-in-1 Assembly
The GKN 3-in-1 assembly is scheduled for production on the European automaker's global platform in 2019.
ZF (ZF) 3-in-1 assembly is planned for mass production in 2018, applied to the European automaker's models.
