Function
The DBEM valve is a pilot-operated relief valve with integrated electronics (OBE). This type of valve is used to limit the operating pressure of hydraulic systems. Depending on the electrical control value, these valves allow stepless setting of the system pressure to be limited. The basic construction of these valves consists of a housing with a main valve spool, a sandwich valve with a maximum pressure limitation, and a proportional pilot control valve. The proportional solenoid is also equipped with a housing containing the control electronics. The supply voltage and control value voltage are applied to the connector. The control value pressure characteristic curve is adjusted to very low manufacturing tolerances at the factory.

The pressure applied in port P acts on the main valve spool. At the same time, the pressure at port P is applied to the spring-loaded side of the main valve spool through a control oil circuit with a nozzle. Simultaneously, pressure is applied to the valve carrier of the proportional pilot control valve through a connecting hole. The hydraulic force at the pilot seat can overcome the control value-dependent force of the proportional solenoid. If the hydraulic force exceeds the coil's magnetic force, the pilot seat will open. At this point, the pilot oil flows through the control oil circuit to port Y and the tank; therefore, a pressure drop occurs at the main valve spool in the control oil circuit. The connection from port P to T is released. The main valve spool controls the set operating pressure at port P.
A spring-loaded relief valve has been integrated to prevent abnormally high pressure values due to hydraulic protection. This maximum pressure limitation is a preset value based on the relevant pressure rating. Within the valve's operating range, the spring holds the valve carrier against the valve seat, and the valve spool is thus closed.
If the pressure in the spring chamber of the main valve spool exceeds the valve's maximum allowable set pressure, the valve carrier will press against the compression spring, and the connection to the spring chamber will open. The pilot oil flows through port Y into the tank. Due to the presence of the control oil circuit, a pressure drop occurs at the main valve spool. The connection from port P to T is released. The main valve spool controls the set maximum operating pressure at port P. If necessary, the preset pressure can also be reduced by the adjusting element. Port Y must be connected externally via a tubular connection to the tank. The tank should be connected after pressure relief. The valve can be unloaded or the maximum pressure can be limited through port X.

IV. Working Principle
1. Pressure Regulation:
• When the system pressure reaches or exceeds the set value, the proportional solenoid generates an electromagnetic force proportional to the set value.
• The electromagnetic force overcomes the spring force, causing the pilot valve spool to move and opening the pilot oil circuit.
• The pilot oil flows through the control oil circuit to the tank, creating a pressure drop that causes the main valve spool to move, releasing the connection from port P to T, and thus reducing the system pressure.
2. Pressure Stabilization:
• By continuously monitoring and adjusting the system pressure, the proportional relief valve can maintain the system pressure fluctuating near the set value, achieving stable pressure control.
3. Overload Protection:
• When the system pressure exceeds the valve's maximum allowable set pressure, the spring-loaded relief valve opens, allowing excess oil to flow back to the tank and preventing system overload.
