The Confucius Museum is located at No. 100, Confucius Avenue, Qufu City, Shandong Province. It covers an area of 165,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 55,000 square meters and a total of 17,000 square meters of various exhibition areas.
The Confucius Museum is a provincial-level specialized modern museum built to commemorate Confucius and inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture represented by Confucianism. It was officially opened on September 6, 2019.
It is located at No. 100 Confucius Avenue, Qufu City, at the southern end of the central axis of Qufu City, 4 kilometers away from the Confucius Temple in the north, echoing the "Three Holes" world cultural heritage.
The collections of the Confucius Museum are mainly derived from the old collections accumulated by the Confucius House in history, carrying the long history of the Confucius House's hometown and rich cultural heritage. There are 700,000 cultural relics in various collections, 300,000 private documents and archives of Confucius, more than 40,000 rare and ancient books since the Song Dynasty, more than 8,000 Ming and Qing clothing and costumes, and a large number of ritual instruments related to the sacrifice of Confucius. In 2020, it was approved as a national first-class museum.
In 2013, Mr. Wu Liangyong presided over the design of the Confucius Museum, which is located in the core area of Qufu National Cultural Industry Demonstration Park. With the "Big Dipper" as the planning layout, a building group space of seven pavilions is formed with the main exhibition hall as the core. The museum has functions such as tourism, museum exhibition, document collection, academic research, information exchange and personnel training, and is also another masterpiece of antique architecture.
