Cold rolling is made from hot rolled coils at room temperature and below the recrystallization temperature. Cold rolled steel plate is the steel plate produced by cold rolling process, which is called cold plate for short. The thickness of cold rolled sheet is generally 0.1-8.0 mm. The thickness of cold rolled sheet produced by most factories is less than 4.5 mm. The thickness and width of cold rolled sheet are determined according to the equipment capacity of each factory and market demand.
Cold rolling is to further thin the steel plate to the target thickness below the recrystallization temperature at room temperature. Compared with hot-rolled steel plate, the thickness of cold-rolled steel plate is more accurate, and the surface is smooth and beautiful.
Cold rolling is processed from hot rolled plates at room temperature. Although the plate will be heated up due to rolling in the processing process, it is still called cold rolling. The cold rolling, which is formed by continuous cold deformation of hot rolling, has poor mechanical properties and high hardness. The mechanical properties can only be restored after annealing. The coil without annealing is called rolled hard coil. Rolled coil is generally used to make products without bending and stretching.
Cold rolled sheet and strip are widely used, such as automobile manufacturing, electrical products, rolling stock, aviation, precision instruments, food cans, etc. Cold plates are hot-rolled steel strips of ordinary carbon structural steel, which are further cold-rolled into steel plates with a thickness of less than 4mm. The cold plate has good surface quality and high dimensional accuracy because it does not produce scale when rolled at room temperature. In addition to annealing, its mechanical and technological properties are better than hot rolled steel sheets. In many fields, especially in the field of home appliance manufacturing, it has gradually replaced hot rolled steel sheets.
