How do you know if PCB components are bad?

Electronic Components are damaged by overvoltage damage, overcurrent damage, and of course mechanical damage. Overvoltage damage such as lightning strikes, breakdown of bridge rectifiers. Overcurrent damage such as thermal breakdown of the display tube.
There is no obvious change in the appearance of components damaged by overvoltage on the PCB, but the parameters have all changed. The surface temperature of the electronic components damaged by overcurrent is very high, and there are obvious changes such as cracks, discoloration, and small pits. In severe cases, the PCB around the component turns yellow or black.
Commonly used Electronic Components can use a digital multimeter to do some simple tests when the appearance does not look abnormal.
Resistance
This is very simple, the test resistance is correct.
Diode
Use a digital multimeter to test the voltage drop of the PN junction, which can be compared with a good diode of the same model.
Triode
Regardless of whether it is an N tube or a P tube, you can use a digital multimeter to test whether the two PN junctions are normal.
Field effect tube
Test whether the PN junction of the body diode of the field effect tube is normal, and whether there is a short circuit in GD and GS.
Capacitance
Non-polar capacitors, breakdown short circuit or desoldering, serious leakage or resistance effect.
The effective characteristics of electrolytic capacitors are: breakdown and short-circuit, increase in leakage, decrease in capacity or open circuit.
Inductance
The effective characteristics are: disconnection, desoldering
Chip
Originality electronics IC has a complex internal structure and many functions, and any part of it cannot work normally if it is damaged. There are also two types of damage to integrated circuits: complete damage and poor thermal stability. When it is completely damaged, it can be removed and compared with the normal integrated circuit of the same model to test the forward and reverse resistance of each pin to the ground, one or more pins can always be found to have abnormal resistance. For poor thermal stability, you can use absolute alcohol to cool the suspected integrated circuit while the device is working. If the failure occurs later or no longer fails, it can be determined. Usually it can only be ruled out by replacing the new integrated circuit.
Whether it is a fault caused by natural loss or a fault caused by man-made damage, it can generally be attributed to three types of faults: circuit contact open circuit, electronic component damage and software failure. If the contact is open, it is generally easier to repair if it is the broken wire, the disconnection of the plug-in unit, or the poor contact. The damage of Electronic Components (except for obvious burnout and heating) is generally difficult to be found by observers. In many cases, it is necessary to use instruments to detect and judge.
