Due to the harsh working environment of the ship, the hull shell is subject to chemical corrosion of seawater, electrochemical corrosion and corrosion of marine organisms and microorganisms; the hull is subjected to large wind and wave impacts and alternating loads; the shape of the ship is complicated by processing methods, etc. Steel for hull structure is strictly required. First of all, good toughness is the most critical requirement. In addition, high strength, good corrosion resistance, weldability, forming properties and surface quality are required.

Shipbuilding Steels Our hot rolled shipbuilding steel is produced in accordance with the relevant Classification Society, examples of which include Lloyds Register and Det Norske Veritas.

Our steel products include steel shipbuilding plate, fabricated steel sections and floor plate for decking. We can also supply bulb flats for plate stiffening, structural steel angles and inverted angles.

Our plates are supplied under the ASTM/ASME specification (ASTM A131 / ASME SA 131) which is the standard specification for Structural Steel for Ships. We offer higher strength shipbuilding steels as standard .High strength steels offer significant cost advantages by reducing the weight of the structure in comparison to the steel used.

The plates are suitable for use in the construction of container ships and large cargo freighters as well as commercial shipping lines such as luxury cruise ships and ferries. Supply options include heavy plates, surface treated plates and pre-fabricated sections. In most cases, the steel can also be supplied as hot rolled coils or cut into lengths (sheets).

These high yield materials are commonly used in the construction of hulls and superstructures for large shipping vessels. The grades are exclusively for shipbuilding use as set out in the standard.

Shipbuilding Steel Classification

The standard strength steel of China Classification Society is divided into four quality grades: A, B, C, and D, namely, CCSA, CCSB, CCSC, and CCSD. The high strength structural steel regulated by the China Classification Society is three strength grades and four quality grades.

Common grades are A, B, D, E, AH32/36/40, DH32/36/40, and EH32/36/40 which ranged from different strength. The plates usually used to manufacture ship hulls, bulkheads, upper decks and hatch covers for tankers, bulk carriers, container ships and LNG carriers.

For the high strength shipbuilding plates like AH36, DH36, EH36 steel plate, they have been widely used in high stress areas of ships, comparing with general strength steel, they are offering the same strength with the smaller thickness.

Processing Technology

Grade A and B
The general strength of grade A and B shipbuilding steel plates can meet the requirements of process and mechanical properties through ordinary rolling, so the production process is relatively simple.

Grade D, E (DH32, DH36, EH 32, EH 36)
Grade D and E series (inlcuding AH32/36, DH32, DH36, EH32, EH36) shipbuilding steel plates require good low temperature toughness and good welding performance. The production high-strength shipbuilding steel plate needs to be normalized by means of controlled rolling and controlled cooling or heat treatment processes with more complete equipment. At the same time, the internal steel purity of the supplied billets is required to be high, especially the content of S, P, N, 0 and H in the steel should be strictly controlled.

Alloy Elements Added to Improve Toughness
In order to ensure the performance of high-strength ship plates, micro-alloying technology is adopted. By adding Nb, V, Ti and other alloying elements to the steel, combined with the controlled rolling process, the grain is refined and the toughness is improved.

Direction of Development for Shipbuilding Plate
High strength, high specification, with the ship's large-scale and safety, and changes in coating specifications, the demand for ordinary A-class panels is gradually reduced, and the demand for high-strength panels is increasing, which is concentrated in large ships of 5m wide. Test Before Delivery

We will control the quality from part of material steel plate, each plate produced will be have it is own identify label, quality will check the chemical component and physical property and then provide material test certificate. Size dimension will be checked and show pictures to customer to guarantee all goods will be meet requirement.
