Classification of polyaluminum chloride

As an inorganic polymer coagulant, Polyaluminum Chloride (PAC) has been widely used in many fields such as water treatment and industrial manufacturing. It is classified in various ways, mainly including the following:

Classification by form:

Liquid polyaluminum chloride: undried form, easy to use, no dilution, but high transport costs, suitable for short-distance transport.

Solid polyaluminum chloride: dried form, easy to transport, but need to be diluted before use, increase the work intensity.

By color:

Solid: Common colors include golden yellow, light yellow and white, and the color difference may reflect the difference in production process and product purity.

Liquid: color from colorless transparent to slightly yellow, light yellow, the depth of the color is also related to its degree of polymerization and impurity content.

Classification by process:

Drum type polyaluminum chloride: aluminum content is general, water insoluble matter is high, and it is mostly used for sewage treatment.

Plate-frame polyaluminum chloride: high aluminum content, low water insoluble matter, suitable for sewage treatment and drinking water treatment.

Spray drying polyaluminum chloride: high aluminum content, low water insoluble matter, fast dissolution rate, mainly used for high standard water treatment, such as drinking water treatment.

Classification by level:

Industrial grade polyaluminum chloride: suitable for industrial water supply, industrial waste water, industrial circulating water and urban sewage purification.

Drinking water grade polyaluminum chloride: widely used in drinking water, urban water supply and industrial water supply purification.

White polyaluminum chloride (high purity, pure white polyaluminum chloride) : suitable for paper industry, medicine, sugar liquor refining, cosmetic additives, daily chemical industry.

Second, the properties of polyaluminum chloride

Polyaluminum chloride is a light yellow to brown yellow inorganic polymer compound, composed of compounds with different degrees of polymerization, with stable chemical properties. Its alumina content can reach more than 8% in liquid products, and 20% to 40% in solid products. PAC is easily soluble in water, accompanied by physical and chemical processes such as electrochemistry, condensation, adsorption and precipitation during hydrolysis, and can strongly remove organic poisons and heavy metal ions from water.

Third, the use of polyaluminum chloride

As an efficient, fast and low-consumption water treatment agent, polyaluminum chloride has a wide range of applications:

Water treatment: widely used in urban water supply treatment, industrial water supply treatment, water reuse treatment, urban sewage treatment, oilfield reinjection treatment, circulating cooling water treatment and various industrial wastewater treatment (such as paper making, printing and dyeing, leather, ceramics, metallurgy, mining, oil, fluorine, coal washing, etc.).

Other industrial applications: polyaluminum chloride can also be used in paper sizing, casting molding, pharmaceutical refining, cosmetic manufacturing, catalyst carrier, sludge dewatering, cement fast setting, cloth wrinkle prevention, sugar liquid and glycerin refining and other aspects.

Four, the selection of polyaluminum chloride

In the selection process, it is necessary to consider factors such as product specifications, cost performance and transportation distance. To be specific:

Product specifications: The alumina content of solid PAC can be divided into < 26%, 26%, 28%, 30% and other specifications, the production process includes plate and frame drying type, drum drying type and spray drying type. Liquid PAC mainly has 11% and 30% content.

Cost-effective: According to the actual use of demand, choose more cost-effective products. For example, spray drying PAC, although the price is higher, has good stability, fast hydrolysis rate and strong adsorption capacity, which can significantly reduce the dosage, thus reducing the operating cost.

Transport distance: For liquid PACs, due to the need for tank trucks and high cost of transport, it is more suitable for short distances (such as within 100 km). Solid PAC has the advantage of convenient transportation and is suitable for long-distance transportation.

To sum up, the selection of suitable polyaluminum chloride products needs to consider multiple factors such as product specifications, cost performance and transportation distance.
