The connecting rod is one of the main parts in the compressor moving mechanism. Its task, together with the crankshaft, is to convert the rotational motion of the input compressor into the linear reciprocating motion of the piston.

Most connecting rod heads are split, and the part separated from the rod body is called the big head cover, which is fastened by connecting rod bolts. The big head hole of the connecting rod is generally equipped with big head tile. The vast majority of the small heads are integral, and the small head holes are equipped with bushings.

For forging connecting rod, the forging ratio should not be less than 3, and metallographic inspection, chemical composition and mechanical properties test should be carried out; For the casting connecting rod, in addition to the above tests, the casting surface should be very smooth and clean, and there should be no serious defects, such as sticky sand, cold insulation, porosity, shrinkage and other defects.

Generally, the forging connecting rod is usually treated with normalizing or tempering. Casting connecting rod mostly adopts normalizing treatment. For connecting rods with special needs, if higher mechanical properties are required, isothermal quenching treatment can be used.
