The role of common mode inductance in EMC

Common mode inductance is composed of inductance coil and wire. Common mode inductance is also called combined inductance, and its function is to couple or radiate electrons. It is the interface between two circuits, and the current or voltage in one circuit can be eliminated or limited by the current or voltage in another circuit.

The role of common mode inductance in EMC: Common mode means that when the voltage difference between the two circuits is zero, the current and voltage in one circuit change at the same time, and the current and voltage in the other circuit remain constant. Generally, there is no voltage difference between the two circuits.

In practical applications, there is often an inductance coil in one circuit and two or more inductance coils in the other circuit. These coils are usually composed of copper wire and aluminum coils. The degree of coupling between them depends on the coupling strength of the inductance coil and the voltage difference between the two circuits. In the circuit of common mode inductance, when the current signal flows through one coil, a voltage signal is generated, and when it flows through the other coil, a current signal is generated. If there is no common mode inductance, the voltage in one circuit will change to the other circuit.

When there is a common mode between two circuits, a common mode voltage will be generated between the two circuits, and the voltage between the two circuits will not change. Common mode inductors are usually used in electromagnetic compatibility design. In EMC design, common mode inductors are used to prevent common mode noise from being coupled into the asphalt or grounding system.
