The working principle of Inductance element

Common-mode inductors are inductors used to suppress common-mode noise in circuits. Common-mode noise refers to interference signals that appear on two signal lines (such as power lines or data lines) of a circuit at the same time, usually due to external electromagnetic interference or internal circuit failure.

The working principle of common-mode inductors is to offset common-mode noise through the electromagnetic induction of inductors. When common-mode noise appears, it will generate current signals of the same magnitude and phase on the two signal lines of the circuit. These current signals will induce a magnetic field in the common-mode inductor, thereby generating a reverse electromotive force that resists common-mode noise. This reverse electromotive force will suppress common-mode noise and convert it into electromagnetic energy.

In principle, the suppression effect of common-mode inductors depends on their inductance value, number of turns, and frequency response. Generally, the inductance value of common-mode inductors should be large enough to generate sufficient reverse electromotive force in the circuit. In addition, the number of turns of common-mode inductors should be large enough to increase the strength of the magnetic field and the impedance of the inductor. Finally, the frequency response of common-mode inductors should be flat enough to suppress common-mode noise over the entire operating frequency range.
