Fire pump adapter is a self-contained fire-fighting facility designed for high-rise buildings and other large buildings, used to connect fire trucks and motorized pumps to deliver fire water to the building's pipeline network. Fire trucks or mobile fire pumps use the interface of this adapter to supply water and pressure to the fire water system inside the building, providing sufficient pressure water source for indoor fire hydrants or other fire extinguishing devices inside the building to extinguish floods on different floors. This solves the problem of difficulty for fire trucks to extinguish fires in high-rise buildings (or other types of buildings) or insufficient or impossible water supply due to low water pressure in indoor fire water supply pipelines inside the building.

The fire pump adapter mainly consists of components such as the body (valve body), interface, gate valve, check valve, safety valve, etc. Gate valves are used as switches on pipelines and are normally open. The function of check valves is to prevent water from flowing back. The safety valve is used to ensure that the water pressure in the pipeline does not exceed 1.6 MPa, eliminate water hammer damage, and prevent accidents. The drain gate is used to release excess water from the discharge pipe, preventing freezing and corrosion. The base supports the entire joint and is connected to the pipeline. Fire pump couplings are divided into above ground, underground, wall mounted, and multi-purpose types suitable for various installation types and functions.

Installation methods and requirements

The underground fire pump adapter adopts cast steel or stainless steel structure, and its installation requirements are strict. It needs to be assembled in a specific order and method, including the interface body, connecting pipe, check valves, safety valves, etc. The installation location should be easy for fire trucks to access, usually located on sidewalks or non motorized vehicle driving areas, and the distance from outdoor fire hydrants or fire water pools should be 15~40m.

Specifically for underground couplings, the distance between the inlet and the bottom of the manhole cover should be controlled within 0.4 meters and should not be less than the radius of the manhole cover to avoid affecting its performance. At the same time, there should be sufficient operating space inside the well, and corresponding waterproof and drainage measures should be taken, especially in cold areas where anti freezing protection is required
