Pharmacological action : Apramycin is an aminoglycoside antibacterial agent, which has

bactericidal activity against a variety of Gram-negative bacteria (such as Escherichia coli,

Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Klebsiella, Proteus, Pasteurella, Treponema dysenteriae,

Bordezia bronchitis-septicemia), Staphylococcus and mycoplasma.

Pharmacokinetics can be partially absorbed by oral administration (especially in newborn animals),

and the absorption is dose-dependent and decreases with the age of the animal.

The drug is excreted in its original form through the kidneys. The half-life of the calf was 4.4 hours,

and that of the sheep, rabbit, and chicken ranged from 0.8 to 1.7 hours, respectively.

Drug interaction : (1) It has synergistic effect when combined with penicillins or cephalosporins.

(2) When combined with basic drugs, the antibacterial potency was enhanced, but the toxicity was

also enhanced accordingly. When the pH value exceeded 8.4, the antibacterial effect was

attenuated instead.

(3)Contact with rust can inactivate the drug.

(4) The ototoxicity of cephalosporins, dextran, potent diuretics (such as furosemide, etc.) and

erythromycin may be enhanced in combination with these drugs.

(5) Skeletal muscle relaxants (such as succinylcholine chloride, etc.)

or drugs having such effects may enhance the neuromuscular blocking effect of these drugs."

Adverse reaction : (1) Apramycin sulfate was the most common cause of vestibular damage,

which could be aggravated by the accumulation of continuous administration of the drug in a

dose-dependent manner.

(2) Excessive dose may cause neuromuscular blockade.

(3) Long-term use may cause kidney damage.
