Hot rolled steel plates can be divided into thick plates (with a thickness of more than 4mm) and thin plates (with a thickness of 0.35-4mm) according to their thickness; Cold rolled steel plates are only thin plates (0.2-4 mm thick). It is customary to divide hot rolled thick plates into medium plates (4~25mm thick), thick plates (25~60mm thick) and extra thick plates (more than 60mm thick). The maximum length of hot rolled steel plate is 12m for medium plate and 4m for thin plate; The maximum length of cold rolled steel plate is 3.5 meters. The yield strength of steel plates is also grouped by thickness. With the increase of thickness, the yield strength gradually decreases.
