Internal thread gate valve, also known as shut-off valve, is the most widely used type of valve, belonging to the forced sealing type valve. Its closing principle is to rely on the pressure of the valve stem to tightly fit the sealing surface of the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve seat, preventing the flow of medium. It is divided into multiple categories in different ways. Internal thread gate valves have the characteristics of simple structure, good sealing performance, long service life, high fluid resistance, and poor regulating performance

Structural principle

Internal thread gate valves, high-pressure gate valves, and bellows globe valve belong to forced sealing valves, so when the valve is closed, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak. When the medium enters the valve from below the valve disc, the resistance that the operating force needs to overcome is the frictional force between the valve stem and the packing, as well as the thrust generated by the pressure of the medium. The force required to close the valve is greater than the force required to open it, so the diameter of the valve stem should be larger, otherwise the valve stem bending fault may occur. After the appearance of self sealing valves, the flow of the medium in the shut-off valve is changed to enter the valve chamber from above the valve disc. At this time, under the pressure of the medium, the force to close the valve is small, while the force to open the valve is large, and the diameter of the valve stem can be correspondingly reduced. Meanwhile, under the influence of the medium, this type of valve is also relatively tight.、

It is usually recommended to install a Y-shaped filter before and after manually connecting the internal thread gate valve to protect the valve from particle impurities, as well as a check valve to prevent medium backflow. When necessary, a bypass valve can also be installed in front of the gate valve for maintenance and fluid circulation in emergency situations. The installation of these auxiliary valves helps to improve the reliability and maintenance convenience of the system.
