The modification is called graft reaction polymerization by introducing other monomers into the side chains of PVC or introducing vinyl chloride chains into the side chains of dissimilar polymers.
Changing the arrangement of the links within the main polyvinyl chloride chain, or changing the arrangement between the polyvinyl chloride chains, that is, changing the polymerization method, this modification is called low-temperature polymerization.
PVC plastic is made of acetylene gas and hydrogen chloride to synthesize vinyl chloride, and then polymerized. In the early 1950s, it was produced by acetylene carbide method, and in the late 1950s, it turned to the ethylene oxidation method with sufficient raw materials and low cost. More than 80% of the world's PVC resin is produced by this method. However, after 2003, due to the soaring price of oil, the cost of acetylene carbide method is about 10% lower than that of ethylene oxidation method, so the synthesis process of PVC has turned to acetylene carbide method.
