It plays a very important role in improving the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of circuits.

How common mode inductors work：

Common mode inductors work by a special arrangement of two inductors, which are usually wound around the same core and wound in the same direction. In the case of a differential mode signal (that is, currents flowing through two coils in opposite directions), the inductance has little effect on the differential mode signal because the magnetic fields generated by currents in opposite directions cancel each other out.

In the case of a common-mode signal (that is, the current flowing through the two coils in the same direction), the magnetic field generated by the two currents is superimposed on each other, making the inductor provide a high impedance to the common-mode signal, thus effectively suppressing common-mode interference.
