PSL1 and PSL2 are two different levels of requirements specified in API 5L for seamless steel pipe used in the oil and gas industry.

PSL1 (Product Specification Level 1): PSL1 is the basic level of requirements for API 5L seamless pipes. It sets the minimum requirements for the manufacturing process, chemical composition, mechanical properties, and testing of the pipes. PSL1 pipes do not require additional testing or stricter quality control measures compared to PSL2. The focus is primarily on the performance and integrity of the pipe.

PSL2 (Product Specification Level 2): PSL2 is a higher level of requirements for API 5L seamless pipe. It includes all the requirements of PSL1 and introduces additional testing and quality control measures to ensure a higher level of performance and reliability. PSL2 pipes undergo more rigorous testing, such as non-destructive inspection (NDT), impact testing, and stricter chemical composition limits. This level is designed to provide enhanced quality and integrity of the pipes.
