Secoiridoids are a class of compounds in cyclopentane monoterpene derivatives, which are formed by splitting the ring of iridoid terpenoids, accounting for only a small part of iridoid terpenoids. Ultraviolet light also causes the breakdown of lipids in cell membranes, which is thought to be peroxidation. Skin fibroblasts are cultured in an environment where some are coated with pure olive leaf extract, others are not. Afterglow analysis measures the degree of peroxidation of a particular substance secreted during decomposition. 5. Anti-gelin enzymatization　
Gulinase is an enzyme produced by fibroblasts under the influence of free radicals – when exposed to ultraviolet light, keratinocytes release information that stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagenase. Pure olive leaf extract was added to the keratinocyte medium and exposed to UVA and UVB irradiation. Samples were taken in fibroblast culture medium before and after, and the results showed that pure olive leaf extract indirectly reduced the secretion of collagenase by inhibiting the production of keratinocytes "messages" caused by ultraviolet light.
