Detailed introduction: ferrous sulphide ore is used for ferro sulphur in free cutting steel smelting/casting, which can improve the cutting performance and mechanical properties of steel effectively. It not only can reduce the cutting force and cutting temperature for significantly improving the tool life, but also can reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece for improving the chip processing property. When the sulfur in cast molten iron is too low, it is harmful to the casting, thereby resulting in poor casting inoculation effect, poor graphite shape and poor cutting performance. Therefore, resulfurization is required. The suitable content in molten iron is 0.07%-0.12. Sulfur makes the length of graphite shorter within the range, the end becomes blunt, and the shape is curved, thereby improving the mechanical properties.
Pyrite as Increase Sulfur Agent Used in Smelting and Casting As increase sulfur additives, high-grade pyrite is used in smelting and casting. It effectively improves the cutting performance and mechanical properties of steel--not only make it require less force and temperature when cutting, and thus, prolong the service life but also lower the surface roughness and better at chip disposal.
Metallographic analysis shows that sulfur of molten iron exists in a special form. Special ferro sulphur must be used in resulfurization. sulphur or other sulphide mineral should not be used, otherwise the casting internal structure will be seriously damaged.
Usage of ferro sulphur:after a small amount of iron is added in the electric furnace during the production of electric furnace, the ferro sulphur with a particle size of 8-25mm is added to the furnace according to the demand of sulfur, the ferro sulphur is pressed by adding iron, and they are smelted. The absorption rate is above 99%.

Sulfur can be added to gray pig iron for improving the cutting performance, and improving the inoculation effect and graphite shape. Because sulfur can make the length of graphite shorter, the end becomes blunt, the shape is curved, and the mechanical properties of the gray pig iron are improved by resulfurization. It is beneficial to control the sulfur in gray pig iron within the range of 0.08%-0.12%.
