Design of high frequency transformer for switch

The switching power transformer is a power transformer with a switching tube. In addition to the voltage conversion function of the ordinary transformer in the circuit, it also has the function of insulation isolation and power transmission. It is generally used in the occasions involving high-frequency circuits such as the switching power supply.

The switching power transformer and the switching tube together form a self-excited (or other excited) blocking oscillator, which modulates the input DC voltage into a high-frequency pulse voltage. It plays the role of energy transfer and conversion.

In flyback circuits, when the switching tube is on, the transformer converts the electrical energy into magnetic field energy, which is stored and released when the switching tube is off. In a forward circuit, when the switching tube is on, the input voltage is supplied directly to the load and energy is stored in the energy storage inductor.

When the switching tube is cut off, the energy storage inductor carries on the continuous flow load transfer. Convert the input DC voltage into the required low voltage.
