Taurodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA), also known as 3 α, 7 β dihydroxycholanyl-N-Taurine, is a conjugated bile acid formed by the condensation of the carboxyl group of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) with the amino group of taurine.

Taurodeoxycholic acid, as a cell protective agent, can improve liver function and prevent hepatocellular carcinoma by reducing endoplasmic reticulum stress and cell apoptosis.
